Lisa Fisher, Senior Urban Planner, Sustainable City Lead, San Francisco Planning Department
San Francisco is known worldwide for its sustainability innovation, having been recognized in recent years as the Greenest City in the U.S. and the Cleantech Capital of North America. Building on this legacy, the city has begun exploring the emerging Regenerative Urbanism approach. This session will highlight key principles and opportunities of regenerative urbanism, inspired by a set of path-breaking global precedents. Focusing on the neighborhood-scale, we will review replicable regenerative concepts, potential value capture, and innovative governance models that could help coordinate diverse community interests towards stewardship over time. At the end of this session, a multi-market Regenerative City Challenge will be introduced.
